Optimising with Subnetworks on Webgains
As a Webgains advertiser, you are able to optimise your campaigns with subnetwork publisher partners through reporting and commission structure.
Optimising with subnetwork publishers and their network of affiliate partners is a great way to further accelerate growth. Our Publisher Source Commission feature allows advertisers to be strategic with where they place budget, offering the ability to structure commission on a sub-domain level for where the advertiser sees most value in the subnetwork’s performance.
What is a Subnetwork?
Subnetworks are set up as a Publisher on the Webgains network and offer Advertisers access to a large pool of their sub-affiliate Publishers that may not be working directly with Webgains.
Required: Publisher Source Data
In order to use the following optimisation features, the subnetwork publisher must send Webgains certain information within their tracking links.
Within the Webgains Tracking Links used by publishers, there are certain parameters that are used to help us track the sale and award commission to publishers. One of our Optional Link Parameters is “origsource=”. This can be used by publishers if they wish to send Webgains additional information about the source of the click.
This is available for any publisher on the Webgains network, but more often used by our subnetwork partners.
Once a publisher sends us this data, then the advertiser can use Reporting and Commission on this publisher source data.
Sale Referrer Reporting
Within the Advertiser Platform Transaction Report, advertisers are able to configure which Columns they would like to display in the report. Some columns will appear by default.
If the advertiser wishes to view the publisher source data (that is, the sub-domain in the case of a subnetwork publisher), they should select the column ‘Sales Referrer’. This will then display the publisher source information that is sent to Webgains from the publisher.
If the Sales Referrer field is blank, it means that the publisher has not sent Webgains this information within their tracking links.
This report can be Exported, or individual transactions can be selected to view more detailed information about the sale, like below:
Publisher Source Commission
As part of the Webgains Smart Commission feature, there are various ways for an advertiser to structure their commission offering for publishers.
If a publisher is sending us the Publisher Source data, as outlined above, then the option of setting commission based on Publisher Source will be available during the Smart Commission creation. This enables advertisers to set a specific commission rate for the sub-domain (or, ‘publisher source’).
When creating the Smart Commission, select ‘Apply to publisher source’, and then ‘Add publisher source’. Within the pop-up modal, select the Publisher name (i.e. the Subnetwork name). A list of Sources will then display to scroll through, or can be filtered with the search box.
Important: The Source will only display if the publisher has previously sent Webgains this information in a tracking link click. Webgains then captures this information to use in the list of available Sources.
Select which publisher source/s to apply the commission scheme to, select ‘Add publisher source’ and then resume with the rest of the Smart Commission creation.
