Planning Your Commission Structure

Depending on your program service level, the process of planning your commission structure may vary, but there are certain recommendations and considerations to factor in when planning your program commission structure.

For Supported Programs:

During your onboarding onto Webgains, your account manager will help advise on a commission structure to put in place, depending on your goals, business model and competitor activity.

For Self-Managed Programs:

Our advertisers are entitled to define their commission structure for the publishers depending on their experience and after learning the general commission structures of their competitors.

What to consider:

When deciding on what commission to offer to your publishers, you should try to make sure the commission rates are competitive and in line with both your margins and the prices offered by your competitors. If you don’t offer appropriate commission rates, your program may not be as attractive against other similar retailers.

It’s also important to consider that publishers may be more attracted to programs that have longer cookie periods and those that offer rewards for all customers.

It is useful to allow for commission increases in return for extra promotion during specific times like sales or new product launches. Webgains Smart Commissions feature allows commission payout to be set on Publisher, Product, or Customer Type.
